Club News Update 5.6.20

Written by Bobby Kerr

THE Helensburgh Tennis Club committee met using Zoom last night and discussed the members feedback received since the club opening on Monday.

Most comments from members were of a positive nature, thanking the committee for their hard work in getting the club open and safe to use.

There were a couple of comments about the use of the toilets in the clubhouse. Unfortunately the use of the clubhouse is still prohibited under the Government and Tennis Scotland guidelines. These guidelines are for everyone’s safety and committee urges members to follow them.

Hopefully it will not be too long before a relaxation of some of the rules. Please follow all the guidelines.

The committee also decided that a virtual AGM will be held on Tuesday June 30, and the format and other details will be announced in due course.

It is important that the AGM takes place as some current committee members have indicated that they wish to retire from their roles. Maurice McIntyre is retiring as secretary, Bobby Kerr and Ann Morison also wish to take a break after a number of years serving on the committee.

All three held important positions and they now need to be filled. Treasurer Paul Clifford has also advised that this will be his last year in that position. Any member willing to serve in any way please email president Keith Love at This email address is being protected from spambots. A deep clean of the clubhouse will take place shortly to ensure a safe environment for when it does eventually open. Finally, thanks to all those who have re-joined despite the current difficult circumstances.
