Lunch will help Foodbank

Written by Phyllis Fullarton

HELENSBURGH Tennis Club is holding a Lunch in aid of the Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank on Friday from noon-2pm.

Marvellous food will be provided in the clubhouse by some of the players.

Organiser Ann McKelvie says that Barbie Paterson will give a brief talk on the aims of the Foodbank.

She added: “Barbie hopes that you will all give generously after you have enjoyed a two-course lunch, followed by coffee and shortbread.

“All are welcome to attend, and bring a friend, partner or even a husband!”

The Foodbank, based in the Red Cross Hall in East Princes Street, is an independent Foodbank run entirely by volunteers.

All of the food issued is donated by the local community and shared with those in need within the local community. Some 40 bags of food are given every week to individuals and families experiencing food poverty.

They also signpost those attending to support agencies able to provide further advice or support on welfare benefits, debt, housing, homelessness, addiction services and other issues.
